China has more billionaires than any country except the United States, as soaring stock and property prices helped to boost wealth among the country's super-rich, researcher Rupert Hoogewerf said on Wednesday.

5.06: After a marginally positive start and subsequent weak spell that lasted close to five hours, the market staged a splendid rally in the final hour on the back of some hectic buying almost across the board and ended the day with notable gains on Monday.
5.10: Information technology stocks led the charge up north. Mirroring their gains, the BSE IT index shot up by 2.76% today. BSE Teck, which has several IT stocks in its fold, ended 2.11% up. IT stocks rose on expectations of an extension of the sunset clause on tax exemption for software technology parks.
5.15:Metal stocks surged higher on expectations of some sops and on hopes of a thrust on infrastructure development. Consumer durables and oil stocks ended with strong gains.
5.20: Bank stocks, which were seen struggling earlier in the session, moved up sharply in the final hour on favourable news for the banking industry in the forthcoming Budget. FMCG, realty, capital goods and pharma stocks too found good support. Automobile stocks traded weak right through the session.

5.25:Tata Consultancy Services ended 4.25% up. Wipro gained 4.15% and sector bellwether Infosys Technologies moved up by a little over 2%.

5.30: Bank stocks, which were seen struggling earlier in the session, moved up sharply in the final hour on favourable news for the banking industry in the forthcoming Budget. FMCG, realty, capital goods and pharma stocks too found good support. Automobile stocks traded weak right through the session.
