Microsoft is preparing an online advertising campaign which would pit WP7 against its competitors in a speed showdown, according to a leak. The Flash-based segments, also known as “Real Time Trials”, are expected to show how fast a Windows Phone 7 device can perform a certain task versus rival phones, be it posting a photo to Facebook or announcing meeting partners someone will be late. As
WinRumors said, the “your phone” outlines are placeholders and are supposed to be filled in by a video content showing a rival smartphone which does the same thing, but more slowly.
The veteran marketing agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky is reportedly asked to make the advertising materials.
The series of ads Microsoft plans recalls closely the same theme present in its initial TV ads, emphasizing the importance of finishing with the phone as fast as possible getting back to real life. These ads, unlike the majority of non-confrontational TV ads, would target directly other platforms and are supposed to address primarily iPhone and Android users.
