Yesterday, HTC announced that Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for Desire, Desire Z, Desire HD and Incredible S smartphones would be released in the second quarter of this year. Even though Gingerbread was officially showed with Nexus S in December 2010, it will take few more months to be released for all existing Froyo devices.
The Gingerbread update for Galaxy S is expected to replace the RFS file system with ext4 filesystem and thereby boost the performance of the smartphone. However, there's no confirmation on whether the change has been made or not. Android enthusiasts and custom ROM developers are constantly updating the forum thread with whatever details they have about the leaked Android 2.3.2 ROM for Galaxy S.
Kindly resist flashing this ROM on your Galaxy S if you don't know what you are doing.
