Microsoft is urging users who are still on the 10-year old Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) browser to just stop.
“It’s time to say goodbye,” wrote Microsoft on a website dedicated to the cause. The software giant is hoping worldwide usage of IE6 to drop to less than 1%. Currently, the figure stands at 12%.
Ostensibly, Microsoft is hoping IE6 users will hop over to the latest version of the browser, IE9, which was released 11 February this year.
Microsoft’s browser is still the most heavily used in the world, with a market share of more than 50%, according to StatCounter.
