4 things Motorola Xoom has iPad 2 doesn't
Since the day Apple unveiled its tablet computer iPad, PC makers have been scrambling to introduce a rival. Some of the tablets set to hit market include, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, LG Optimus Pad, HTC Flyer, HP TouchPad and Motorola Xoom.
While all tablets have some USP, several analysts are betting on Motorola Xoom to give some real competition to Apple iPad. It is also seen as the device that can give a boost to Motorola's fortunes.
Here's looking into what gives Motorola and edge over Apple iPad2.
Display
It was widely speculated that iPad 2 may sport a bigger screen size than the first-generation iPad. However, iPad 2 retains its predecessor's screen size with 9.7-inch LED-backlit display.
Powerful camera
The second-generation iPad too has a dual camera, however, with no major upgrade. According to Apple, the camera will record video, HD (720p) up to 30 frames per second with audio and still camera with 5x digital zoom.
However, Apple website does not mention how many megapixels iPad 2 cameras have. According to Web reports, rear-facing camera on the iPad 2 is mere 1 megapixel in comparison to Motorola Xoom's 5 megapixels.
USB port, HDMI
The new iPad misses out the SD card slot and USB port. Expectations were high that Apple may add an SD slot to the device and give users choice to pad up storage.
Unlike iPad, Xoom comes with an HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) port and USB port for users to connect to other devices.
4G
For now, iPad 2 will rely on AT&T's and Verizon's 3G cellular network.
