Nokia Now Developing Its First Windows Phone – Elop

Stephen Elop, the former Microsoft executive who now run Finnish phone giant Nokia, has revealed that the first Nokia phone running on the Windows Phone platform is now currently in development, a report from Reuters says.
The news comes a month after Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer along with Elop announced that Nokia will be using the Windows Phone platform for its high-end smartphone.
Some analysts say that this is a fast turn-around because the announcement was just made last month. It may signify the eagerness of Nokia to release a Windows Phone-powered device.
The announcement that Nokia will be using the Windows Phone platform essentially sounded the death knell for Nokia’s own proprietary operating system Symbian.
The industry was a bit surprised after the announcement made by the two companies because most assumed that Nokia, if ever it decided to abandon Symbian, would be using the Google-developed Android mobile operating system.
According to Elop, Nokia may be able to release a Windows Phone device late this year.
