First Google’s Chrome OS netbook might be launched by Samsung According to reports circulating on the internet, the South Korean electronics giant, Samsung will release the first Google’s Chrome OS netbook, Cr-48, which is codenamed “Alex” this summer.
According to a Chrome bug report, Samsumg is producing the device instead of earlier thought Acer and the tablet will be released this summer. It might come with a subscription policy attached to a Google account and even a rental plan.
A Google document titled, “Issue 13967 in chromium-os: Improve hardware components probing method” has a reference to “Samsung Alex.” Several specifications were also posted online but have since been retracted.
The documents published online suggest that the device will have a 10-inche 1280 x 800 pixel display and will be powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core Atom N550. It will also feature SanDisk SSD P4, 2 GB RAM, Qualcomm Gobi 2000
3G card as well as Qualcomm Gobi 2000 3G card, Namuga webcam, Synaptics touchpad, Card reader, USB ports and VGA output.
