Apple: iPhone 4S Sells Out In Hong Kong; Siri Is Learning Mandarin

Apple‘s new store in Hong Kong sold out of the iPhone 4S in just three hours, according to Ticonderoga Securities analyst Brian White, citing a Chinese language news site. White adds in a research note that his own checks find that Apple authorized resellers in Hong Kong also quickly sold out, despite the fact that the Siri voice recognition software does not currently understand Mandarin.

The new phone became available in Hong Kong for the first time today.

While Siri so far speaks only English, French and German, the analyst notes that “checks indicate Siri will be available in Mandarin by March 2012.”

White adds that he expects Apple to start selling the new phone in mainland China in December.
