Hooray! Apple TV finally plays 1080p

apple tv

This has been an awfully busy week for Apple, which has just announced its latest iPad with a sizzling high-resolution Retina display that sets a new yardstick for future slates. In comparison, the Cupertino-based company's latest Apple TV has only received a mere 1080p video upgrade. A standard feature which is supported by most, if not all, comparable products in the market for the longest time.

Moreover, popular devices such as the Roku and WD TV are not only cheaper, they're also equipped with more functions such as app support and USB multimedia playback. Now before you accused me for being too critical, I'll admit that most Apple products deliver a more seamless user experience through the iTunes store and an intuitive interface.

For those of you who are buying gray import sets from the US, note that music and video downloads may not be available for your local iTunes store--this service is currently found only in selected Asia-Pacific countries such as Australia and Japan.
